Surface treatment of metals using powder baking paints, sometimes also called powder coating or powdering or incorrectly called by laymen as "comaxiting", is a modern technology of surface treatment of metal products, when powder coating is applied by spraying in an electrostatic field.

In this procedure, the powder particles are electrically charged while the treated object is grounded. The powder paint adheres to the surface of the treated metal (or other conductive) products thanks to electrostatic forces.

The subsequent baking in the oven at a temperature of approx. 180 - 200 °C melts the powder paint on the surface of the product and creates a homogeneous coating. After the products are removed from the oven and air-cooled, the final surface is finished.

The indisputable advantage of powder coating is that it is one of the most environmentally friendly methods of surface treatment these days, which does not harm the environment or human health. The logical consequence of this is that the consumption of powder paints is steadily increasing and causing the gradual replacement of conventional wet paints. This growing consumption is significantly supported by excellent physical-chemical, mechanical, aesthetic and anti-corrosive properties of the final surfaces, as well as by its economic efficiency.
